Rainbow, Tooting Bec platform poster
I asked Amy's friend Ruby what her favourite colour was, she said, "Rainbow".
That's a funny coincidence I thought, that's Amy's favourite colour too.
In fact most of Amy's schoolfriends when asked for a favourite colour list 'Rainbow' amongst their carefully considered choices.
The girl next door is 10, when the favourite colour question came up recently she told Amy, "Rainbow isn't a proper colour".
Amy said, "Well, I like blue and green as well".
The 10 year old looked like she was considering continuing the debate.
"Do you like rainbow?" Amy asked.
Her friend nodded, "I like rainbow. Except for yellow."
Amy looked smugly at her, "You don't really like rainbow at all!"

Do you remember posting about the Cornish pastie takeaway place in Oxford Street, and wondering how on earth it could survive, since no-one could possibly want cornish pasties in the summer? I wondered the same.
Well, I have your answer. Where we went wrong was assuming that most people in Osford Street are either like us (working) or are tourists.
But there's a whole other world out there. I listened to a great World Service programme that featured a woman taking the Night Bus to Hayes in Middlesex. As she was commentating on the various detriti getting on and off ("We have a gang! we have a gang! Everyone is holding their purse just a little bit tighter, including me") she noted that the queue outside the Cornish Pastie place was "massive. It must be the only thing apart from Doner Kebabs that people eat after midnight".
So, now we know. There's no point in the place opening before 10pm, and it can then close at 6pm, a day/night well done.
